Transplant patients have unique dermatological needs, including:
- infective skin problems
- numerous precancerous lesions (actinic keratoses, Bowen's disease)
- skin cancers.
Immunosuppressant drugs used by transplant patients increase the risk of skin cancers. Squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) are the most common post-transplant malignancy.
Their problems are often multiple, complex and time consuming.
The Skin Health Institute's Transplant Clinic is set up to manage the skin of patients who have had organ transplants.
