About Us
The Skin & Cancer Foundation is a not-for-profit, DGR registered, non government funded organisation which provides specialist treatment for a wide variety of skin diseases with an overall aim of skin health led by dermatologists.

Since its formation in 1987, The Skin & Cancer Foundation has been at the forefront of developing new and better ways to diagnose and manage the wide range of diseases of the skin. Founded by a group of 38 leading dermatologists, we specialise in treatment, education and research. Many of the dermatologists who are involved with the organisation donate their time, valuable skills and experience.

Diseases of the skin are one of Australia's major public health problems. Every day, dermatologists see patients with a wide range of conditions; some debilitating that profoundly affect self-esteem, the ability to socialise and to work. The Skin & Cancer Foundation is proud to help these people achieve their full potential.

Now in our 20th year - The Foundation's Charter has matured over time and three main objectives remain at our core:
  • To provide world class specialist dermatology clinical services and care to the community
  • To contribute to the education in dermatology of medical students, trainees, dermatologists, general practitioners and the community
  • To support and contribute to dermatology research throughout Australia.
As one of Australia's leading centres for skin disease research and treatment, we conduct regular trials, collect clinical data and support projects in other dermatology centres. Our ongoing trials enable us to make significant advancements in skin disease treatments and patient care. Our education arm reaches diverse groups of people including trainee dermatologists, ongoing updates for consultants and other specialists.

The Foundation houses the Australasian Psoriasis Registry and the specialist Occupational Dermatology Research and Education Centre (ODREC), the latter providing over two thirds of contact dermatitis patch testing in Australia.
